Answer:

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

There is no prohibition for the trustees of the masjid to collect sadaqatul fitr (fitrana), Zakat and optional charity on the Eid day provided that no prohibited act is undertaken while doing so. Also, it should be noted that sadaqatul fitr (fitrana) and Zakat money can only be given to eligible recipients of Zakat. Sadaqatul fitr (fitrana) and Zakat money cannot be used for building or maintaining the masjid or for public welfare projects etc. Therefore, separate boxes should be used for collecting sadaqatul fitr (fitrana), Zakat and donation and these boxes should be clearly labeled.

It should also be noted that if a person can give sadaqatul fitr (fitrana) to an eligible recipient on Eid day before going for Eid prayer, it will be better to do so. (Al-Ikhtiyaar: 1/130)

And Allah knows best.
