Can a widow of the age of 45 visit the grave of her husband? Can a daughter visit her father’s grave?

Question:

Can a widow of the age of 45 visit the grave of her husband? Can a daughter visit her father’s grave?

Answer:

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

Young women are not permitted to visit the graveyard. Elderly women are permitted to visit the graveyard in order to remember death and to admonish themselves. A woman who is 45 years of age is not considered elderly; hence it is not permissible for a woman of 45 years of age to go to the graveyard in order to visit her husband’s grave. Similarly, it is not permissible for a young daughter to go to the graveyard in order to visit her father’s grave.
